Maine Coon – one of the largest domestic cats in the world. That maybe the main reason for some to have a Maine Coon. And, to be frank that was ours too. Keyword – was.

 

Once we get to know Maine Coon, we forget about their size. It’s their personality that makes you fall in love with them. They can get very attached to you. They’ll greet you at the door, they’ll follow you wherever you go in the house.. literally everywhere (to the kitchen, to the bathroom, to the bedroom..everywhere). They’ll lick your hair, they’ll sit beside you, they’ll jump on you - doesn’t matter what you are doing, watching tv, reading, seating, lying down or even sleeping. They’ll come and say “hi” to you or say “I miss you”.

 

But, don’t expect that 24/7 from them. (Sometimes, we are happy that it’s not 24/7..just imagine a very thick encyclopaedia thrown at you while you are taking a nap – try to imagine that, then you’ll get what it feels like). They have their own “me time”. They’ll make you feel like you were never there (even you are next to them), they’ll pretend like they don’t hear when you call their name (yes, their ears move when they hear you call, but that’s it) or even as you pat them. It’s like when you say “I miss you”, they’ll say “whatever”.

 

That’s the beauty of Maine Coon. They are social, yet like to be on their own. They are independent, yet dependent. They are predictable, yet unpredictable. They are simply, mysteriously fascinating.
